To Celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Ford Capri coupe announced in January 1969, Burton Capri Club propose to recognise this milestone in this wonderful cars history. To this end a two day outdoor show will be run in conjunction with the Cars in the Park Classic car show.
Cars in the Park is a growing Classic car event organised by the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad with all proceeds to Rotary Charities. The Rotary Club have kindly allowed us to run a celebratory show within their event.
Although at this early stage we are still planning and arranging various attractions we propose to run the following:-
CAPRI CLUB BRANCH CHALLENGE
A number of competitions will take place for branches of the Capri Club from throughout the UK to take part in. A trophy will be awarded to the overall winners of the contest. Contests will be held throughout the Saturday of the show for a Wheel changing competition, Spark plug changing competition (both timed), Capri parts identification, Tug of War, Quiz and Iron Man competition. All branches wishing to take part will need to notify us in advance of their wish to take part and attend on the day with a team of six members to compete.
CONCOURS COMPETITION
Open to five categories of Ford Capri manufactured between 1969 and 1987 - These are:-
Best Mk I, Mk II, Mk III, Limited Editions and Modified.
Trophies will be awarded in each class.
The Concours Competition will take place on the Sunday of the Show.
ADDITIONAL ATTRACTIONS
Capri Parts sales stands, Autojumble, Children's painting competition, Famous and Rare capri's (Invitations have gone out to the owners of the Minder Capri, Professionals Capri(s), Only Fools and Horses (Del-Boy) Capri plus various Motorsport Capri's. We have also possibly the only Mk III factory Ferguson 4 x 4 Capri as a possible visitor. More Details as these are confirmed!
OVERNIGHT CAMPING
Camping overnight will be available to visitors with either tent's or caravan's.
Weekend visitor's will be able to visit the many attraction's of Lichfield City, including the Cathedral, the Garrick theatre, Dr. Samuel Johnson's birthplace Museum, Hanch Hall, Lichfield Heritage Exhibition & Treasury, Staffordshire Regiment Museum.
In addition there are many old and interesting Public Houses, restaurants, and takeaways to cater for all palates.
