HISTORY
The Burton-on-Trent & District Capri Club is a branch of Capri Club International the worlds largest Ford Capri owners club.We formed on the 1st May 1996 with an initial membership of four local Capri owning enthusiasts. Thanks to a supportive series of articles in the local media the club quickly expanded to nearly thirty members!
We originally held our monthly meetings on the first Wednesday evening each month at the Gate Inn, Main Street, Branston, Burton-on-Trent. This later expanded to the first and third Wednesday evening each month.
In addition to the evening meetings we attend CCI show events, Ford Fair, and selected Classic car events displaying our members cars. We also attend autojumbles to obtain useful parts to keep our Capri's in top condition, motor museums and shows and display at most major classic car events..
The Club has achieved many successes winning Best Club display awards at
several prestigious events including Best Branch stand award at the CCI National event at Stanford Hall in May 1998.
January 2000 saw a major change for our club with a change of meeting venue to the Bridge Inn, Tatenhill Lane, Branston, Burton-on-Trent. Meeting nights remain unchanged and our new venue is easily accessed from the Branston Island exit of the A38.
As we enter the 21st Century we aim to "Keep the Capri Legend Alive" for as long as we are able to maintain them in a roadworthy condition. To this end we are looking into the possibility of having scarce parts remanufactured to original Ford specification.
If you are a Ford Capri enthusiast and would like to check out our activities please come along to one of our meeting nights or see us at an event. We will be pleased to see you whether you currently own a Capri or not!
